As a specialist supplier to the industry, you can rely on AMES Direct to have the solution for your roller needs.
Benefits of New Manufacture;
Contact us now to get your rollers rolling on your next project!
You send the roller to us and we will strip the perished material from the shaft. We then prepare the shaft for recovering, by sandblasting or lightly machining the shaft and applying a primer. Depending on the material selected we then cast or apply a new coating of rubber. Once cured, our machinists will machine the roller to exacting tolerances using our cylindrical lathes.
If you have adjustment on the rollers pressure, we can offer a regrind/rejuvenate service to your roller. You send the roller to us and we will lightly grind the material back to a smooth clean surface. If required, we can wash your roller in our Rubber Rejuvenator to remove all residues, restore tackiness and elasticity.
We can supply you with a chemical which will remove all residues and restore tackiness and elasticity.
By re-using your old rollers you will benefit from;

The vast range of environments our rollers operate in, calls for a vast range of compound availability. Here at AMES Direct we have Australia’s largest range of compound selection to ensure we are supplying the highest performing roller every time. By having such a huge range of materials, we have no compound affiliation. Here’s some of the compounds we have available;
- Katsura Rubber
- Natural Rubber
- And more…
Selecting a compound calls for an understanding of the application, ambient temperatures, chemicals involved, pressure involved and operating intervals of your roller. Our technicians will assess your roller’s environment and select the most effective compound. All materials (soft and hard) are machined to exacting tolerances, in any shape or form. You will be confident in your rollers endurance when you choose AMES Direct for your next batch of rollers.
Durometer (duro) or Shore Hardness is a scale for measuring the density of a compound. The Shore scale was defined by Albert Ferdinand Shore, who developed a device to measure Shore hardness in the 1920s. Shore developed three scales to measure a compounds density; Shore 00, Shore A and Shore D – we normally use the Shore A scale. It is critical to select the correct compound shore to ensure a high performance. We can supply you with a Durometer so you can determine the hardness of your existing rollers. This will assist our technicians develop a roller to match or outperform your current rollers.

AMES Direct has a vast array of engineered plastics in semi-finished form including rod, sheet, tube and profiles. These plastics are available in;
Our most diversified product with extensive properties designed to enhance your production and save you maintenance costs. UHMWPE is six times more abrasion resistant than steel, and is virtually unbreakable. It has low co-efficient of friction, absorbs no water, is impervious to most chemicals and is environmentally friendly containing no harsh chemicals.
Polyurethanes are a cost effective alternative to materials such as natural rubber or steel. Polyurethane elastomers have outstanding abrasion, cut, tear, impact resistance and are lighter than steel. Polyurethane is also non-marking which is why it has become very popular in the roller recovery industry. In most cases polyurethane will outlast metal components, especially where parts are subject to abrasive elements. Polyurethane is the only compound where we are able to colour match to any shade of the colour spectrum.
AMES Direct specialises in several grades of Nylon. Amlon is our own brand for our premium monomer Cast Nylon, produced by a unique process resulting in a highly crystalline engineering plastic. This means a tougher, wear-resistant material which is superior to many other cast nylons available. Amlon is the preferred material where issues have resulted from abrasive wear, impact strength, bearing strength, noise, weight and corrosion.
AMES Direct also specialises in plastic components through varied forms of moulding processes, including Polyurethane, Silicone, Rubber and many more. Whatever you need, as a new design or a replacement for a hard-to-find spare part we have solutions to suit.
Benefits of plastic moulding;
